"FOR ME THE VOICE HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE GREATEST INSTRUMENT"
As children of the digital age, it is very important for us to keep in mind when working on aural projects, that listeners of our generation more often than not, through the use of personal sound devices have unpresidented access to various sounds while still going about their day to day operations in very public places.
The challenge of course being that because they most likely in a public place, how does one create music that not only can be played through speakers but more importantly will often times be listened to through personal headphones; Forcing the listener to recognize the need to listen at a lower volume. I would definitely call what I do, head music.
Having studied many different styles and forms of music over the years, I like to think musically what I do is deconstruction and reconstruction sound. Which allows me the opportuntiy to skillfully constructs portals of infinite time and space. Whether it be an original composition or the re-imagining of a familiar song, I try my best to effortlessly transport listeners over a multitude of aural landscapes that are at once arresting and always heartfelt.
I then, combine this understanding with my earnest gift of communication which allows me to continually strive to create works that breakthrough, engage, and challenge audiences to look deeper and listen more closely to their inner selves.
I am trying to create works that are at once beautiful and yet dreamlike. My sound comes from the place of consciousness and unconsciousness. Weaving together multi-layered vocals, ambient soundscapes, experimental arrangements, & cut and paste instrumentation without any regard for classifications.
"In my works the old and the new form a cohesive whole that is at once complete and fresh. I enjoy creating multiple single takes, I then slowly layered one on top of the other. This allowed me to really create organically the songs exactly as I hear them in my head. - It truly is quiet music for all those very public spaces we find ourselves filling."
